PETER PAN JUNIOR THEATER
Peter Pan Junior Theater is a non-profit, volunteer supported organization that utilizes theater arts to develop character and leadership skills within students. In addition, cast members will be instructed in dancing, singing and acting.
WHO MAY AUDITION
Any 4th through 8th grade student that attends school in the La Mesa Spring Valley School District or live in the boundary areas of the district is qualified to audition.
AUDITION DATES
September 2nd and 3rd, 2024 from 4:00-5:30 PM at La Mesa Arts Academy auditorium at 4200 Parks Ave. in La Mesa. Bring a current (wallet size/school type) photo with you (photos will not be returned). Parents MUST accompany their child to the auditions and remain until their child is finished. (approx. time 30 minutes). However, auditions will be closed and private; therefore no one (including parents) will be allowed to watch auditions.
AUDITION SONGS
All prospective cast members must choose songs provided by PPJT via the “Auditions” section of the PPJT website. Music and lyrics are provided for the audition songs. One of these songs must be chosen for the audition. On the day of the audition, PPJT will play the music for the song that is chosen. You can access the PPJT “Auditions” page by going to www.ppjt.org/audition-information.
NO OTHER MUSIC WILL BE ALLOWED.
CALL BACKS
Call back selections will be posted according to your audition number on the website (ppjt.org) on Wednesday, September 4th at 5:00 PM. Call back auditions will be held Thursday, September 5th, 4:00 – 6:00 PM OR Friday, September 6th, 4:00 – 6:00 PM in the La Mesa Arts Academy auditorium. It is your responsibility to check the posted “call back” list to verify which day you have been assigned. NO phone calls will be made. Students will learn a song and read dialogue and be evaluated on their performance. Students are required to stay for the entire time.
CAST SELECTION
Final cast selections will be posted according to audition number, Sunday, September 8th at 5:00 PM on the PPJT website (ppjt.org.) No phone calls will be made.
FINAL CAST CHARACTER LIST
The final cast character list will be posted on the website on Monday, September 9th at 5:00 PM.
CAST REQUIREMENTS
At the discretion of the Production Team, cast members may be required to cut, braid, style, color or de-color their hair for the show.
PPJT MANDATORY ORIENTATION & FAMILY SOCIAL
Thursday, September 26th from 6:30 – 8:00 PM at the LMAAC auditorium. Cast members must be accompanied by a parent. We will provide refreshments during this orientation.
PPJT MANDATORY REGISTRATION NIGHT
Thursday, October 3rd from 5:30 – 6:30 PM at the LMAAC auditorium. Cast members must be accompanied by a parent and can come anytime that evening to complete their registration process.
PRODUCTION FEE
The fee is $375 for each cast member. Additional siblings in the same family are $325.
PARENTS
Family support is essential to this production and a volunteer time commitment is required by each child as well as by parents. Parents must serve on two committees to assist with the production.
REHEARSALS
Rehearsals for “The Music Man” will begin October 16th after the fall break. Rehearsals are held at LMAAC after school Monday, Wednesday and Friday 4:00 – 6:00 PM (not all cast members are required at all rehearsals). Saturday rehearsals are from 8:00 – 11:00 AM (all times are subject to change). The final week of rehearsals will be held at the Kroc Theater.
